Marie Gahleitner

Dear Pieter and Jacob!

my name is Marie Gahleitner: I'm French, I've been living in Austria for the last 16 years and I'm working in the music department of Linz09... and I was yesterday (Wednesday the 4.th of February) one of the person who enjoyed your anthology during the avant-premiere.

First of all I would like to congratulate you both... the show is fine, very subtle: I loved it!

You mentionned this email address and said you would like some statements, well here is mine!

My directions for use for Optimism!

When I was 20 years old, I was the most optimist person you could met... live was easy, I had success in everything, people used to tell me, my optimism was contagious and somehow I thought, it will go on like this till the end!
Well I guess I was a bit naive!

Then life, destiny or whatsoever decided to put some sand in the ball bearings of my life and I checked pretty soon, that when big problems occur, it is not always possible to remain optimist. Everyday I didn't feel good but I always had in mind and kept on telling me "one day I will go back and be an optimist again ".
Point 1:
Optimism, is something you really have to believe in. You can't fake with it! You have to feel it, you have to have it in you!

After some years I decided to regain this optimism, I missed so much. It was hard work, but I did it!
Nowadays, I'm back to my optimism. And I know I have to pay attention not to loose it again, so I take care of it and "feed" it regurlarly! My optimism is made of many small little good things of the everyday life: the sun is shining, my old jeans fit again, the tast of a good cup of tee in the morning, I find a parking place straight away, my son is saying something nice to me, somebody is smile back, I find 2 euros on the street, I get an nice email from my husband...
Now I feel warm again inside of me. It protects me somehow, but I know I have to protect it against "bad vibes".
Point 2:
People can be whether optimist or not. But when you have the chance to be, take good care of that chance in order not to loose it! Pick up and notice all the positive things you can get.

Point 3:
Stay to it, it's worth it!
Because when you are optimist, luck is not very far away. Think about it, who gets the free place in the bus: the one who smiles at life or the one who looks pissed of????

Friendly yours.

marie
